FAQ

Is this an electric fence?
No, the wire in a Perimeter Pet Fencing System does not carry electricity, but a digitally encoded radio signal. It is the special training collar that teaches your pet with tones and harmless stimulation to stay within the defined wire boundary.
Why do I have to change the rubber comfort contacts?
Perimeter’s soft rubber Comfort Contacts will wear over time and loose some of the conductive properties that keep your pet safely in the yard. Changing the rubber tips keep your system operating at its optimum efficiency.
How long does it take to install the Perimeter Fencing System?
The size and complexity will determine the length of time to install your new fence. Pet Stop® Professional fence dealers use specialized wire machines which makes for a much faster installation, where you probably will use a flat edge spade or gas powered edger. Expect an afternoon for a standard ¼ acre lot installation.
My neighbor has a pet fence, will it interfere with mine?
No, unlike other fencing systems, Perimeter Ultra Comfort has two different frequency settings. Should you encounter interference from a neighboring system, simply switch your fence to a different signal frequency.
How deep is the fence wire buried?
The fence wire is only buried one to three inches under your lawn.
How long does it take to train my dog to the fence?
The training process is extremely important to the success of your new pet fencing system. It is an easy to follow two week program. Although your dog will learn his new boundaries within the first couple lessons, two weeks of close supervision is encouraged to ensure your pet’s safety and compliance with her new fence.
Are you sure I can do this myself?
The system comes complete with expertly written instructions on installation and training, a step by step CD to follow and help center staffed with professionals to answer any questions you may have. If that isn’t enough, you can find a PET STOP® professional dealer in your area by visiting www.petstop.com to install your system for you.
What makes 915 MHz so special?
All other remote training systems sold in the United States operate on a very cluttered 27 MHz channel, that is prone to interference from sources such as CB radios and even children’s toys. 915 MHz is a higher, less crowded band that offers superior reception between you and your dog.

Will the correction harm my dog?
NO. The mild correction that your dog feels is designed to be undesirable so your dog will avoid it, yet is totally harmless and humane.
How long do the batteries last?
Battery life varies greatly depending on the type of battery, how you use and maintain the product, as well as the operating temperatures. You can expect a minimum of three months.
How old should my dog be before we start using an electronic device?
Perimeter Technologies recommends that your dog be at least 6 months old.
Why can’t I leave the collar on my dog for more than 12 hours?
Any collar receiver worn for extended periods can cause a condition similar to bedsores, known as Pressure Necrosis. Some skin irritations can be serious and your dog’s skin should be check daily.
How many dogs can you have on a containment system?
There are an unlimited number of dogs that can be contained using your Perimeter Pet Fencing System. Additional collar receivers can be purchased separately.
